You may have a question about the Bible, life, or church or may like to just try out an idea. Here is an excellent place to do so. You can have access to some very theologically deep thinkers and some of us who just like good, simple answers. Please feel free to join us. Bring your own questions and comments.
"The Holy Spirit is not 'doing
different things in different parts of the world.' He is
doing the same thing everywhere: exalting Jesus Christ
and bringing people to Him. Come to the Lord and bring
your friends. You don't have to stay away, there is room
in His arms for everyone who comes to Him." |
Announcements
If you want to post announcements, news, or even discussion ideas please feel free to submit them via e-mail. I will be as accommodating as possible.
In the tumult of politics within the Church we have had many new people visit us. I want to assure you that you are welcome here. People post from many different perspectives and though this is a site dedicated to "orthodox" Christianity you are welcome to speak your mind and positions on any topic within reason. Of course there are limitations but we will let you know if you are out-of-bounds. We have posters that are Episcopalian, Eastern Orthodox, Methodist, Baptist, and others from novice to theologians .
You are welcome! Please stop in!
RULES
Posts that do not follow the above rules will be deleted. You may e-mail Jesse, the moderator, with questions.
Rules are only required by those who place no rules on themselves.
A note on the term "orthodox"
Some visitors ask, "Why, are there so many people who like to think of themselves as 'orthodox' in their christian beliefs disagree on so many different things?"
The answer to that is in our definition of "orthodox". As usually used here it means the holding to the fundamental or foundational beliefs of christianity. This means that while we most likely agree on the early creeds, etc.,we differ greatly in worship practices and in the interpretation of some Scripture, or, even the proper methods used to interpret Scripture. In addition, some people post who do not hold to any historical orthodoxy at all. These all blend to produce some mind-bending, or perhaps, mind-straightening, debates. Join the on-line education.
We regret the passing of Bruce Shaw, July, 4th, 2003. He posted on this board for a long time. We valued his opinion, were challenged by his logic, and encouraged by his undieing love and devotion for his God and the Church he practiced much of that devotion in and with. We wish the best for his family, S. John the Evangelist Church, and anyone else who had the joy and benefit of knowing him and who must miss him very much.
Sincerely,
